Your player may be asked to skip a JV|Varsity tryout and move to a Varsity|JV Tryout date(s)- this is no reflection of your final placement & at the discretion of the coaches to have the players they need on the ice for scrimmage situations to make final team placements as well as meet rink requirements.

Players who registered for Varsity Only and Returning Varsity Players will attend the Varsity/JV Tryouts dates only (August 9-11)

9th graders in the 2006 birth year are eligible for middle school and at the discretion of the board may be asked to attend middle school tryouts.

Mid-Am limits the number of 2008 players we are permitted to roster on the team (goalies included) to only 25% of our roster. If we have 18-20 players on the roster, no more than 5 of them can have 2008 birth year. 


Check In
Players and parents must have masks on while checking in as well as adhere to social distancing. One supervising adult may arrive with each player to check in.  The SVHA Board is using the SV Athletic Director's Daily Screening Report, asking players if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, upon every check-in before they step out on the ice.

No Spectators 
One supervising adult may assist with equipment only.  Once the player is dressed, the adult must depart the building for the duration of the tryout.  No spectators will be admitted to the rink, locker rooms, or main lobby near the service counter during the tryouts.  Any spectators found inside these areas will be asked to leave. 

PA Designated Hot Spots 
If you have traveled within 14 days of any SVHA ice assignments to an area where there are high amounts of COVID-19 cases, we ask that you DO NOT attend.  Please email DAN BLUCHER and let him know. List of HIGH COVID AREAS

Water Bottles
Players must bring their own water bottle marked with their player’s name.  Please bring it filled.

***IMPORTANT***

PAPERWORK REQUIRED FOR PRE SKATES
The COVID-19 Waiver, please download it here, is required the FIRST time you step on the ice.  Your player will not be able to participate without this form filled out & turned in.

Complete  UPDATED Drug Test Consent Form.  PLEASE BRING THIS TO OPEN SKATES AS WE NEED TO TURN THEM INTO SENECA VALLEY ATHLETIC OFFICEDrug testing will occur on a random basis throughout the school year.  Therefore, there will be NO drug testing dates prior to tryouts. However, you need to  complete the UPDATED Drug Test Consent Form – there is NO payment required at this time.


PRIOR TO TRYOUTS

  • Seneca Valley School District Sport Registration (7th graders and older) - Through the SV Portal, you must designate that you are participating in a winter sport, as well as provide electronic signature for waiving liability, acceptance of risk, etc. 
    • Log in to the SV Portal, select "Sports" section under your student's name and complete the requirements.
  • Please READ the Policies & Procedures at Baierl Ice Rink 
  • You will receive an email in the next few days to accept your tryout fee in our Groundwork's system. Please set up payment prior to tryouts. 
  • See below for when you player should attend. 

OPEN SKATES

PAPERWORK TO BRING TO THE FIRST DAY OF TRYOUTS

  • Please bring your completed PIAA forms (Sections 1, 2, 5, and 6) with you. Section 6 must be completed by a pediatrician/medical examiner and dated after June 1, 2020.
  • COVID-19 Waiver please download it here - your player will not be able to participate without this form. 
  • Complete  UPDATED Drug Test Consent Form PLEASE BRING THIS TO OPEN SKATES AS WE NEED TO TURN THEM INTO SENECA VALLEY ATHLETIC OFFICE. Drug testing will occur on a random basis throughout the school year.  Therefore, there will be NO drug testing dates prior to tryouts.   • NEW PLAYERS TO SENECA VALLEY HOCKEY:  Please bring a copy of your players Birth Certificate 

Concussion Testing – Since there will be no drug testing dates prior to tryouts Seneca Valley is waiving the concussion test prior to tryouts. They will conduct concussion testing on a team-by-team basis. Once our teams are formed we will provide details on concussion testing. Concussion testing will only take place for JV and Varsity.  Middle School players who wish to take the concussion test can visit UPMC Heads Up Pittsburgh

At Tryouts

No Spectators - CLOSED TRYOUTS
We will not be allowing spectators this year and we ask parents DO NOT congregate inside the rink.

Bring Black and White Jerseys 
TWO jerseys to every session - one dark and one white. These jerseys should be unmarked. No names and no emblems of PAHL, PIHL, or AAA teams are permitted at tryouts. Please also remove identifying pants shells and socks for tryouts.

Check In Tables 
Check in will be outside the rink. Please look for the tent (if you do not see a tent outside, we were able to move check in inside).  We ask that players and parents have masks on while checking in as well as adhere to social distancing. One supervising adult may arrive with each player to check in.
