SVHA Quick Facts


SVHA PURPOSE

The purpose of the SVHA is to provide an opportunity for students in the Seneca Valley School District to play competitive ice hockey under the auspices of Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL), to develop ice skating and hockey skills, to promote social relationships among its members, to engender community spirit and interest in ice hockey, to encourage scholastic achievement, and to help fulfill the financial obligations of the players.

Teams
We currently field five (5) Teams :  
  1. Middle School - Blue (MS-Blue)
  2. Middle School - White (MS-White)
  3. Junior Varsity - Blue (JV-Blue)
  4. Junior Varsity - White (JV-White)
  5. Varsity

Rosters
A full roster is 20, typically 18 skaters & 2 goalies.
Practices
On average, each of our MS teams have six (6) practices, JV seven (7) practices and Varsity eight (8) practices per month.  Practice schedules are released on the monthly basis and optimized against game schedules. 
 
Games
We play other teams in PIHL with games Monday - Friday as early as 6pm and as late at 10pm. Each season the teams we play vary based on divisions, teams and PIHL scheduling. On average MS and JV play a 14-16 game schedule with an end of the season tournament. Varsity plays a 20 game schedule with playoffs at the end of the season.  
 
Tryouts
Tryouts are held in May at Baierl Ice Complex and registration opens April 1st and closes on May 1, 2023. There will be a $25 fee if registering AFTER May 1.
Eligibility for 2023-2024
To be eligible to play Seneca Valley Hockey, players must reside in the Seneca Valley School District and must be entering grades 6 through 12 for the 2023-2024 school year.
 
  • Middle School: Grades 6-8 AND birth years (2009-2011)
  • JV and Varsity: Grades 9-12
Payments
SVHA utilizes the Snap! Spend payment system and are a check free organization. Payments can be made without a fee by using ACH as a payment method. A credit card payment option is now available as a convenience to SVHA families; however, it will incur a small fee from Snap! Spend to process.
